Cost of Living Support

This Remembrance Sunday in Brentwood saw those on parade marching through a delicate gloom of autumnal mist en route to the War Memorial and St Thomas’. 

Almost one in four families across the UK will receive £324 from the government this month as the latest Cost of Living Payments are sent out from today (8 November 2022).

 As winter approaches, the unprecedented energy price increases we’ve experienced in the past year mean that energy will be front of mind for a lot of people like never before. 

The government has a new support scheme that will see energy prices for non-domestic energy cut, to support growth, to help prevent unnecessary insolvencies and to protect jobs.

I know many constituents with disabilities face higher disability-related costs from care and mobility needs, so as we tackle global inflationary pressure I am aware of the need to tailor our support to protect those most in need.

Countries around the world are grappling with rising prices as Putin uses energy as a weapon for the help we are putting into Ukraine.

To help British families with the cost of living, we're providing £37bn of support to help people through these challenging times.

Millions of households receiving certain benefits, including tax credits, are eligible for a Cost of Living Payment of up to £650, paid in two lump sums of £326 and £324.

Anyone receiving both tax credits and other eligible benefits, will be getting payments now from DWP.
