Children and parents from Stapleford Abbotts Primary School contacted me to support their campaign to make school drop off and picks ups safer. Many of the children do not live within walking distance of this little village school and there is very limited space near the school for parents to park. Even the children who walk to school are hampered by the lack of a good footpath to the school.
I have worked with the school and relevant authorities to find a suitable solution and am pleased Essex County Council is helping support the school with developing a School Travel Plan, with a view to encouraging and enabling more pupils to travel by the safest, greenest and healthiest modes available to them. The school is also making efforts to acquire some land nearby to create parking for the parents.
