The Bank of England is looking for secondary schools from Brentwood and Ongar to take part in their digital media competition about the role of the Bank called Bank, Camera, Action.
The competition is aimed at school children aged 11-18 and schools are invited to submit a short film on topics which change from year to year. This year’s title is ‘What independence means to me’ and coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Bank of England being granted operational independence over monetary policy.
This is what the Bank of England has to say about the competition:
"Independence means different things to different people. For students it may be passing their driving test, getting a Saturday job, or leaving school. So we are giving schools the opportunity to create a film that communicates the subject in an interesting and imaginative way. Students are free to use dance, music, poetry, rap, animation, graphics, cartoons, interviews, news items or any other fantastic ideas you may have. It's completely up to them, the more creative the better!
Expensive technology is not required to enter. Films can be submitted from a phone, tablet or camera and should be between 1 and 3 minutes. There will be prizes for both schools and individual team members. The winning films will be made available on the Bank website and shared through our social media channels.
We received over 100 entries in last year’s competition - A Day in the Life of the New Fiver. You can see the winning films on our website – www.bankofengland.co.uk/education/Pages/competitions/bankcameraaction.aspx
For this year’s competition, schools must register for the competition by 9 October 2017. The closing date for film entries is 11 December 2017."
