It’s always good to be back in the constituency after a busy week in Parliament, and the team catch-up in the new Miracle Café on Brentwood High Street was enhanced by a lovely breakfast. It’s my aim to visit as many cafes, pubs and coffee shops in the constituency as possible on Fridays, so do let me know your favourites!
I’ve caught up with National Grid this week about their proposals for a line of massive pylons from Norwich to Tilbury to bring offshore wind power to our homes. There’s another consultation taking place at the moment – particularly about a slight change to the plan for Haverings Grove, so please do go to the National Grid website at nationalgrid.com/norwich-to-tilbury to make your views known.
I was also able to meet up with Bishop Alan Williams, at Brentwood Cathedral last week to find out what’s going on in the Catholic community in this area and have a brief visit to the wonderful cathedral in the middle of the town. I was delighted to hear that the congregation is growing.
Then on to Ongar to meet Ongar Town Council’s chairman, Jason Gunn, for a catch-up on the issues affecting Ongar residents and to hear of the initiatives in Ongar to bring the community together. I know there’s concerns about changes to a bus layby at the top of the High Street, and would advise anyone who is worried about the plans to contact Essex County Council’s Highways team to make their views known. I will also be writing to the Council to ensure the views of my constituents are being heard.
