The Environment Agency is running its annual campaign this winter to inform the public about the risks of flooding and help them take action to prepare.
Their annual flood action campaign (‘Prepare. Act. Survive.’) runs from October through to March, encouraging people to know what to do in a flood. Below are some further details, including how you can help.
Taking steps to prepare for flooding, and knowing what to do in a flood can significantly reduce the damages to a home and possessions, reduce risk to life, and reduce the likelihood of suffering from mental health impacts in the future.
This year the Environment Agency are targeting people who live in areas at high risk of flooding, but have not yet experienced flooding to their home. They want to reach these people in any year, but as you can imagine, coronavirus restrictions will exacerbate the challenge of recovery from flooding this winter so it is more important than ever. Therefore, the Environment Agency will be encouraging individuals to use and download their ‘Prepare. Act. Survive.’ flood plan to help reduce these risks.
