Last week it became even clearer that Labour don’t have a plan to improve things for people here in Brentwood and Ongar.
The King’s Speech is normally a big day in politics; it’s where the Government’s agenda is set out and debated.
But the King’s Speech last week was pointless. Everyone knows Keir Starmer won’t be around long enough to deliver this agenda. But if he goes, what comes next for us here in Brentwood and Ongar?
- Andy Burnham, who wants to nationalise housing?
- Wes Streeting, who wants to rejoin the EU in all but name?
- Angela Rayner, who will be horrified when she discovers that prime ministers have to pay council tax in Number 10?
The truth is, whether it’s Burnham, Streeting or Rayner, Labour don’t have a plan to deliver for communities like ours.
Only the Conservatives have the team, plan and backbone needed to improve Brentwood and Ongar.
Don’t get me wrong, we didn’t get everything right when we were in government. We focused too much on ourselves and we didn’t stick to our principles enough.
But the Conservative Party is under new leadership. And just look at what we’ve done together over the last couple of years.
Hundreds here in Brentwood and Ongar joined the campaign that forced Keir Starmer to U-turn on his plans to cut winter fuel payments for millions of pensioners.
Hundreds more joined me in standing up for family farms - forcing Keir Starmer into another U-turn - and, together, we’ve worked with victims and campaigners to force Keir Starmer to U-turn on the grooming gangs.
With your help, we've forced Labour into 24 different U-turns and counting, while the Lib Dems went along with everything Keir Starmer has done and Reform MPs barely turned up to vote.
The Conservatives are the only party with a plan, a real team and the backbone needed to deliver a stronger economy and a stronger country.
