I was absolutely delighted to be invited to open St Clare Hospice’s latest charity shop in Ongar on Saturday 14th June.
With more and more people keen to embrace recycling and sustainable fashion and homewares, the shop offers a great opportunity for the local community to support hospice care while shopping sustainably.
Having visited St Clare Hospice in February this year, I know how much support the team there gives local families when a friend or relative needs end of life and palliative care. It’s a costly facility to run so every penny raised through fund-raisers, grants, and the hospice’s charity shops is needed and well used.
The team has given a new lease of life to the shop on the High Street and it was beautifully stocked when I cut the ribbon to formally open it. There are a wide selection of high-quality, pre-loved clothing, accessories, and more, available - all generously donated by members of the community.
Every item sold helps raise vital funds to support the hospice’s specialist care for people living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families and carers so if you are having a clear out and want to donate some items, or are looking for some pre-loved clothes for the summer do pop in and enjoy all that is on offer.
