The latest consultation into the proposed line of massive pylons National Grid want to install between Norwich and Tilbury - including parts of Ingatestone, Havering's Grove and West Horndon - is now open and opinions are being sought until 11:59 pm Thursday 27 March 2025.
National Grid have sent me the following information today:
" Following our public consultation on Norwich to Tilbury last summer, we have carefully reviewed all the feedback, and have identified some locations where we could, potentially, make some changes to the proposals. Before we make any decisions, we are going back to consult with those people living near these proposed changes.
We have a duty to develop the most appropriate proposal, taking account of feedback from local people and their representatives alongside the environmental and technical assessments. We are phasing the consultations, which started with locations in Norfolk and Suffolk on Thursday 30 January. We are now holding targeted consultations on proposed changes at 15 locations across Essex and Thurrock. These consultations open on Tuesday 25 February and will close at 11:59 pm on Thursday 27 March 2025. We expect to hold a further targeted consultation next month on a change to the substation connection at Tilbury.
We are writing to nearby residents and community representatives with information to explain the proposed changes and invite them to provide feedback. While these are local, targeted consultations, anyone can take part. We have published all materials on our project website and are holding public webinars and parish council briefings to ensure people have the opportunity to ask questions.
There is one location in your constituency where we are proposing a small, localised change and I have enclosed an information leaflet [see below] which sets this out in more detail. All the feedback we receive will be carefully considered and used to help refine our proposals ahead of the submission of our application for a Development Consent Order (DCO) later in 2025."
The "small localised change" mentioned is at Havering's Grove and this information has been provided in the consultation leaflet (attached below):
"We are proposing to take down a section of the existing 132 kV overhead line and replace it with underground cable to allow us to move a line of pylons and a temporary construction compound near Havering’s Grove to the west of its previous location."
