Campaigning for Step Free Access for Brentwood Station

Despite TfL claiming Brentwood Station has Step Free Access, it is clear the only genuine way access can be 'Step Free' at Brentwood is to install a lift on Platform 4. I am working with the Brentwood Access Group to campaign for a lift to be installed without further delay.

One of my first meetings after I was elected as Member of Parliament for Brentwood and Ongar in 2017 was with Jim Hoare, from the Brentwood Access Group, at Brentwood Station. Jim and I walked the “step free” route from the disabled parking bays to the ticket office, which involves a long incline, crossing three roads – a lengthy and tiring route for anyone with limited mobility or using a wheelchair.

I continue to raise concerns about the lack of disabled access with TfL and the Department of Transport, and am campaigning for the Access for All funding – which was assigned and then taken away from the project in the years prior to my election – to be reinstated and a lift installed from the ticket office level to Platform 4. This will enable those with disabilities or  wheelchairs have easy access to trains to London from the disabled parking bays by Platform 4 without having to travel to Shenfield to change platforms.

Railway Station Ticket Offices To Stay Open

One of the first meetings I had in Brentwood, even before I was elected as Member of Parliament in 2017, was with Jim Hoare, of the Brentwood Access Group, about the need for a lift on Platform 4 at Brentwood Station to allow those with disabilities to access London bound trains without having to

Welcome to 2023

Happy New Year to all Gazette readers and constituents of Brentwood and Ongar.

After a politically tumultuous 2022, I was delighted to see the Prime Minister kick of 2023 with a clear five-point plan to build the foundations for a better, more prosperous future.

Elizabeth Line and Access Update

It is a source of great frustration to many people living in Brentwood and Shenfield that the much vaunted Crossrail, or the Elizabeth Line as it is now known, is still not in full operation.

Winners and Losers

In a week when the votes in Parliament over the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union have come up with no clear winners and extra time has now been called, it was a welcome relief to hear of the undeniable success of one of our local football teams.

Funding Application for Brentwood Station Lift

One of the first campaigns in which I became involved when I was elected as MP for Brentwood and Ongar in June 2017 was the fight for a lift to be installed on Platform 4 at Brentwood Station.
