The Red Cross has been in touch to encourage more of us to think about doing some first aid training. While 999 is always the number to call for life-threatening illness and emergencies, knowing what to do when a friend or family member is feeling under the weather is always a helpful skill.
The Red Cross website is full of such everyday first aid skills. You can find them here: http://www.redcross.org.uk/What-we-do/First-aid/Everyday-First-Aid
A series of videos have been created to demonstrate some of the basics, and the Red Cross has promised to share a monthly first aid tip. If a child is hurt or unwell, it can be difficult to know what to do. Trying some first aid first can help you find out what’s wrong, relieve symptoms and know whether you need further help.
This month, when we're all feeling the effects of a long winter and a damp Spring, coughs and colds are around in abundance. Have a look at the video to see what the Red Cross suggests you try if your child has a fever.
