It's been a busy week for the Brentwood and Ongar Conservatives. I spent Saturday morning knocking on doors and delivering letters in Shenfield with some of our stalwart supporters, from borough councillors to long-term Conservative Party members. Some of them have come up through the ranks from the days of Young Conservatives, and were very pleased to hear we held the inaugural meeting of the new Brentwood and Ongar Conservative Future group last week. This youthful group, aged from sixteen to twenty two, from most of the secondary schools in Brentwood, had a spirited discussion about everything from political history to tuition fees to bus services and were filled with infectious enthusiasm for finding new people to join the movement.
Sunday brought a splendid cream tea at Hutton Hall and an 'official' welcome from the Brentwood and Ongar Conservative Association to me as the Member of Parliament, made all the more welcoming by the arrival of a surprise cake to celebrate my recent birthday!
Good friends, good fun and good cake...and if this appeals to you and you'd like to find out more about the local Conservative Association, do get in touch via the contact details on my website.
