Throughout lockdown Brentwood and Ongar's fine youth organisation leaders have been keeping Scouts, Guides, Brownies, Cubs, Beavers, Sea Scouts and Air Cadets running through the medium of Zoom. It's require no end of work by the leaders to adapt their usual badge activities from face to face to online, but I am hugely impressed by what has been on offer for our young people.
I've heard about Pirate Camps, treasure hunts, aircraft recognition and fancy dress events being organised and giving children a chance to see their friends, if only online, and create mayhem in their homes as they cook, craft and learn.
The 1st Warley Brownies are meeting once a week for an hour online and Brown Owl tells me they have been doing their Speaking Out badge. One of the Brownies, Emily, has written a fabulous poem (pictured) which I felt deserved a wider audience, so I hope you enjoy reading it.
Congratulations to all leaders for running these out-of-school activities throughout lockdown, and here's hoping you are back face to face as soon as possible.
