Elizabeth Tower and Big Ben

Elizabeth Tower/Big Ben Tours

The guided tour of the Elizabeth Tower takes you up a narrow 334-step spiral stairwell to the Belfry where Big Ben hangs. The tour includes viewing the inner workings of the clock mechanism, standing next to the Big Ben bell as it strikes the hour, and stepping behind the dials.

Please note that visitors must be aged 11 and over, children aged 11-17 require adult supervision and be comfortable climbing 334 steps unaided and able to sustain moderate physical exertion for up to 90 minutes.

Tickets are released at the start of each month for a period of up to two weeks for MPs to make free booking requests for their constituents. After this period, tickets go on sale to the public to purchase at the cost of £25 per adult and £10 per child aged 11 and over.

Tickets can be booked three months in advance - from 1 June for tours in September, from 1 July for tours in October, from 1 August for tours in November, and so on.

If you are one of Alex’s constituents and would like to book a Big Ben Tour, please email [email protected] including your full name, address, details of how many tickets you would like, and the email address that you would like the Tours Office to use when sending your booking confirmation.

MPs are only allocated 8 bookings each year, so we can only offer tours to those living in the Brentwood and Ongar constituency, but you can be added to the waiting list if the allocation is full.
