It's National Apprenticeship Week 2018 this week, co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service. The event celebrates apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses, local communities and the wider economy.
During the Week employers and apprentices from across England will come together to celebrate the success of apprenticeships whilst encouraging even more people to choose an apprenticeship as the pathway to a great career. I meet regularly with local secondary school heads and am aware apprenticeships are becoming more popular as a way forward for those who prefer practical work to the prospect of three more years of academic study at university. Some of the schools are even offering apprenticeships themselves, and discovering new skills and talents among their former students!
