Alex Burghart MP and Cllr Barry Aspinell

My return to Parliament after the summer recess has been busy, and I have been able to catch up on two key local issues which are affecting many of my constituents.

I met the new Leader of Brentwood Borough Council, Cllr Barry Aspinell this week, to ask him to continue the excellent work done by his predecessor, Chris Hossack, to tackle unauthorised development in Warley.  I am pleased to say Cllr Aspinell agreed with me the Council must continue to fight its corner to ensure that justice is done.

I have also renewed my campaign against the proposed pylons from Norwich to Tilbury and have, with my fellow Conservative MPs, written to the new Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Claire Coutinho MP, to ask for a meeting to discuss our ongoing concerns. We want National Grid to give real consideration to an offshore option, and will continue to do everything we can to push for this outcome.
