Alex Burghart MP, James Cartlidge and MPs meeting Greg Hands MP

Since National Grid first outlined its East Anglia Green Energy Enablement (GREEN) project, suggesting it wants to build a new high voltage network reinforcement between Norwich, Bramford and Tilbury to ensure there is the capability needed to reliably and securely transport all the energy that will be connected by 2030, I have been working with my fellow East Anglian MPs to oppose the proposal the power should be carried through overhead cables and pylons.

I know constituents from Ingatestone to West Horndon are concerned about the impact of the proposal on our countrywide, and have joined other MPs in calling for the cables to taken offshore. Now my Parliamentary colleague James Cartlidge MP is carrying out a survey to ask all those who have expressed objections to the scheme if they felt an offshore alternative was meaningfully discussed by National Grid in the original consultation. If you would like to take part in James' survey you can find it here: https://www.jamescartlidge.com/EAGREENSurvey

Many constituents, especially those in Ingatestone, Haverings Grove and West Horndon, are aware of National Grid’s proposal to build a new high voltage network reinforcement between Norwich, Bramford and Tilbury via an intrusive network of overhead lines and pylons.
